In the final webinar of the current series, David Shone and Chris Rayner presented the work of the Association in the context of the CDM initiative, focussing on the multitude of developments planned for remainder of 2022 and beyond. Amongst other things, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from Vernon Alden-Smith from ISDA on mutual opportunities in the collateral arena (standardising eligibility schedules, the margin call process flows, and key steps to automation), as well as Mike Lambert from Broadridge on developing a standardised trade execution process in the CDM.
Following the launch of the ISLA Clause Library & Taxonomy in September 2021, ISLA alongside a number of the Association’s external partners will touch upon two main areas in this session – the ISLA Clause Library & Taxonomy and legal technology platforms. This session provides an opportunity for members to hear about future developments on the former, including proposed use cases, as well as an introductory overview for those less familiar with the concept. This session will go on to consider further initiatives that ISLA is looking at in the legal technology documentation space.

The MCA provides a standard framework and set of terms which can be used for “non-standard” trades types and has been produced for ISLA members. This short video explains what the MCA is and how our markets can use and benefit from it.
Following the implementation of the much-anticipated CSDR settlement discipline regime across the European Union on 1 February 2022, review the road to today’s incarnation, including the advocacy efforts undertaken to get to this point. The panel assess the potential behavioural changes to trading, operations and technology platforms, including the challenges associated with accounting, as well as the mitigation of potential exposures. Finally, they will provide their short, medium and long term predictions for the legislation, and potential impacts for the future of our markets.
The Associations discuss the role of the CDM in supporting their members through their digital transformation journey, and how tools like CreateIQ are already making use of the CDM for members.
In March 2021, ISLA published a paper entitled ‘Framing securities lending for the sustainability era’ in collaboration with Allen & Overy, looking at the role of securities lending in the transition to a sustainable economy, and how ISLA can support that process in practice. Second in the ISLA webinar series, Emma Dwyer (Partner), Kelly Sporn (Senior Policy Advisor) and Tamara Cizeika (Counsel) at Allen & Overy, will provide a briefing on this important initiative.

This second session, includes a fire-side chat with Andrew Dyson CEO ISLA, Sarah Wilson and Xavier Bouthors who discuss the rise of ESG in the context of asset management and evolving investor sentiment. Familiar themes such as shareholder engagement as well as proxy voting are considered, as a traditionally rules-based regulatory world continues to focus and adapt to an increasingly values-based one.
