ISLA Americas

The securities lending and financing markets have gone through many periods of transition and structural change over the years, in response to the economic, political, and regulatory landscape, but also the evolving business, trading and product needs of the various participants across the securities finance value-chain.

ISLA has continued to support and represent its members across Europe, Middle East, and Africa over the past 30 years, advocating the importance of securities lending, collateral mobility, and financing within the broader capital markets eco-system. Increasingly, those efforts have required a more holistic approach, working with fellow industry associations across global jurisdictions to meet common member goals.

Against this backdrop, ISLA recently announced the expansion of its coverage and activities to include the United States (US), with the creation of an affiliate entity, ‘ISLA Americas’, in Q2 2024

The intention of this expansion is to serve regional members in the US, together with current members operating global businesses, where ISLA has seen a notable increase in demand to produce a more cohesive output, reflecting multi-jurisdictional operating models and a growing desire to provide one global advocacy voice across EMEA and the US (read full Press Release here)

ISLA Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)

To achieve this expansion in a cohesive manner, ensuring strategic alignment between ISLA EMEA and ISLA Americas, ISLA held an EGM on 2 May 2024, where Members were asked to vote on two key resolutions. The passing of these resolutions were integral to the expansion, and to shaping the long-term strategy of ISLA.

ISLA members voted strongly in favour of the two proposed resolutions,  paving the way for the cohesive expansion of activities into the US through the incorporation of ISLA Americas. More information regarding the incorporation of ISLA Americas will be communicated in due course.
