LONDON, Wednesday 10 June – The International Securities Lending Association (ISLA), the leading authority and advocate for the securities lending and financing industry, is delighted to announce that Stephen O’Donnell has joined the Association as Chief Operating Officer.
Stephen brings more than 20 years’ experience at Tier 1 global financial institutions spanning securities finance, derivatives, collateral and clearing. Stephen joins ISLA from BNY, where he spent four years as EMEA Head of Sales & Relationship Management for Global Collateral and Global Clearing, responsible for the EMEA client franchise. Prior to BNY, Stephen spent 16 years at Morgan Stanley across multiple roles, including EMEA COO for Securities Lending and EMEA Head of Sales Strategy for Securities Finance.
Throughout his career, Stephen has worked extensively with institutional clients and market participants across EMEA and globally. His experience includes commercial leadership and financial resource management, alongside regulatory and market initiatives in securities finance and collateral markets. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Accounting & Finance (Hons) from the University of Glasgow, and graduated from the Securities Industry Institute Executive Leadership Program at The Wharton School in 2026.
