FCA Extends Reporting of Non-EEA Third Country Issuer LEIs

On 1 April 2022, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced that Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) of non-EEA third country issuers will not need to be reported under the UK Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR), until at least 13 October 2022.

Following recent discussions with the FCA on the subject, ISLA welcomes the extension of the forbearance period, which was due to expire on 13 April 2022, but has since been extended for the additional six months.

The forbearance period under UK SFTR is now closely in line with ESMA’s EU SFTR which is due to expire on 10 October 2022.
